Location:  Located in the northwestern forest range of Nainital is the village of Pangot. 15 kilometers from Nainital.

Surrounded by thick oak and rhododendron forest on three sides this lodge, it is a typical Kumaoni hill settlement with about 15 families.

One can still observe the age old lifestyle of the hill folk in Pangot.

About: Jungle Lore Birding Lodge in Nainital is tucked away in the picture-postcard hamlet of Pangot which is an important migration route for birds. Jungle Lore Birding Lodge is located facing the valley veiled with verdant oak and rhododendron forest. It has got that nestled-into-nature look and at the same time, features all the top class facilities which make your stay comfortable to the ultimate level. Catch a glimpse of the common stonechat, dark-throated thrush, slaty-headed parakeet, streaked-laughing thrush, red-billed blue magpie, yellow-breasted green finch, russet sparrow and more such rare species as you approach the lodge.

Accommodation: Jungle Lore Birding Lodge offers 3 cottages with attached bathrooms with running hot and cold water. The main cottage serves both as a living room, as a bedroom and as a dining hall during the day. The other two cottages are independent bedrooms with twin beds. One of them has even an attic with a bed that can serve as another bedroom within the same cottage. The main cottage and another cottage boast of fireplaces. Heaters are available in winter.

Activities:

Bird Walks:- More than 250 species of birds have been recorded in the area. One can have excellent birding opportunities in the lodge itself. Besides, there are numerous walks through the terrace fields into thickly wooded oak forest which are extremely rewarding.

Camping: - We provide Swiss tent & camping tents for birders who enjoy camping. The tents have common western style toilet & hot shower. Tents are lit with emergency lights.

How to get there:

• Drive from Delhi via Kathgodam and Nainital: 8 hours.
• Drive from Delhi via Ramnagar (Corbett National Park) and Kaladhungi: 7½ hours
• Overnight air-conditioned train from Old Delhi railway station (departing at 2245 hrs.) to Kathgodam (arriving at 0615 hr.) and then 2 hr. drive to Pangot via Nain ital.
• Overnight air-conditioned train from Old Delhi railway station (departing at 2245 hrs.) to Ramnagar (arriving at 0500 hr.) and then 2½ hr. drive to Pangot via Kaladungi.
