Sat Tal Camp

Location: Sat Tal Camp is situated at Sattal village near Nainital, atop a hill at an altitude of 1350 m. Sattal, 22kms from Nainital, gets its name from the seven lakes the camp overlooks.

Sat Tal is an ideal all-season camp. And because it's a mere 7 hour drive from Delhi (or a comfortable overnight journey by train), escaping to Sat Tal is easy.

About: Sat Tal is a group of seven natural lakes. Of these five are perennial - Ram Tal, Sita Tal, Lakshman Tal, Hanuman Tal and Garur Tal; two are seasonal - Sookha Tal and Biyun Tal. The perennial lakes are named after the main characters in India's best known epic - the Ramayan. The placid water of these lakes holds great charm. The lakes lie in the basin of the surrounding hills. The presence of reserve forests, consisting of dense mixed jungle, in the vicinity of these natural waters greatly add to the charm. There are a few villages in the area. A few old bungalows and a Church from the British era still stand. Special visual effects of these lakes can be captured under varying weather conditions - in the rain, fog, mist and cloud.

Apart from the abundance of natural beauty around you, the camp promises a lot of fun and action. You can enjoy kayaking, fishing and swimming in crystal clear lakes, rock-climbing and treks through dense jungles past hidden villages and waterfalls. Camp-fires, games and barbeques complete the outdoor experience. For those looking for a more laid back holiday, you can laze on the hammock with a book or a pair of binoculars to spot a variety of exotic Himalayan birds.

For a yet more wholesome experience, you can participate in our community-based development programmes and interact with the locals to learn more about the area, the people and their culture.
