Dodital Trek-I

Dodital at an elevation of 3024 mts., north of uttarkashi is a crystal clear water lake, surrounded by dense forests . The lake is full of fishes and is known for some of the rare species like the Himalayan Golden Trout. The forest surrounding the lake is also full of wild life . This one of the most beautiful trails in Garwal and easy enough for even beginners. The trail passes through rhododendron and pine forests, crossing several streams on the way. The View of the lake is exhilarating.

Day 1 Delhi to Uttarkashi (1550 m)
Board Dehradun Shatabadi leaving Delhi at 0655 hours. Arrive Haridwar at 1120 hours. Transfer to Kuflon, near the road head for Dodital, 11 kms from Uttarkashi in the valley of the Assi Ganga (5 hour drive). Overnight in Camp or Hotel in Uttarkashi.

Day 2 Uttarkashi to Bevra (2400 m) 4-5 hours
Depart for Bevra - the walk is 8 kms (4-5 hours) of which 2 kms is on the road along the Assi Ganga stream. Bevra is a camping spot 1.5 kms ahead of Agoda village. A dip in the stream in Bevra is the best way to wash out the first day body aches.

Day 3 Bevra to Dodital (3310 m) 6-7 hours
Early morning breakfast. Commence trek to Dodital, 16 kms (6-7 hours) with packed lunch. The walk is gradual. The Rhododendron and Oak trees mainly dot the trek with occasional Seabuck thorn bushes. There is no habitation beyond Bevra except for the Shepherd shelter in Majhi. Dodital at 10,000 ft is a fresh water lake amidst thick jungle. The brown trout in the lake adds to the beauty.

Day 4 Dodital to Darwa Pass (4150 m) to Kanasar (3900 m) 4-5 hours
The walk to Darwa Pass is about 5 kms (2-3 hours). The entire walk is an uphill climb. It starts with the climb along the feeder to Dodital breaking into a thick birch forest opening into the high meadows. The pass at 4150 m offers an ampi-theatre view of the Bandarpunch range of peaks. The more adventurous ones can go higher up to climb the Darwa Top and the rest can proceed to camp at Kanasar (3900 m) just below the pass. Overnight Camp.

Day 5 Kanasar to Kandoli (2800 m) 6-7 hours
Long traverse in the meadow with impressive views of the Banderpunch range brings one to the beautiful grazing ground of Seema. After having lunch here we start our descent through the forest to our campsite at Kandoli, having a few summer houses. Overnight Camp.
